Benefits of Mediation

A much better alternative to litigation for dispute resolution

Mediation is an increasingly popular method of Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) – avoiding the stress, cost, reputation damage and lengthy process of traditional litigation. Mediation brings together parties in dispute to achieve a mutually acceptable solution.

As a neutral mediator I will help everyone involved engage constructively and negotiate the right settlement. Is it a compromise? Well yes, but in a positive way. By understanding your objectives and exploring possible solutions you get the best available outcome.

Unlike courts… mediation is conducted in an informal environment very different from intimidating and lengthy courtroom procedures. The main advantages are:

  • Cost-effectiveness

Disputes can be resolved quicker and at much lower cost.

  • Confidentiality

Court action is a matter of public record, mediation protects reputations.

  • More success

Mediated settlements often achieve outcomes impossible through legal proceedings.

  • Win / win outcomes

In litigation one side ‘wins’, the other loses. In mediation all sides can reach a fair agreement.

  • Emotional closure

Litigation is adversarial whereas mediation is less acrimonious and can maintain good relationships.

There are several types of mediation for different kinds of disputes and all kinds of people. From commercial to family mediation, for public bodies (NHS/ education/ local governments), businesses, employees… I deliver a range of effective mediation services.
